Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a Tax Specialist for a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension.
This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in office, with occasional additional on-site days as needed. This role supports high-value Estate, Trust, and terminal tax filings and offers exposure to specialized post-mortem tax planning.
- Collect required information from clients and internal/external sources to prepare complex income tax returns.
- Prepare and file T1 personal, terminal returns, GREs, T3 Trust and Estate returns, including rights or things.
- Perform calculations, complete tax schedules, and organize documentation for complex filings.
- Identify post-mortem and tax planning opportunities and act as a technical resource to the Estate & Trust Advisory team.
- Review assessment notices and prepare adjustment requests, objections, and clearance certificate applications.
- 3+ years of experience in an accounting or tax-related role.
- Strong experience with T1 preparation, including Terminal (Final) T1 returns.
- Hands-on experience with T3 Trust & Estate returns.
- Working knowledge of Graduated Rate Estates (GREs).
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting or related field.
- Proficiency with TaxPrep or similar tax preparation software.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA.
- Experience in Estate & Trust tax planning and post-mortem strategies.
