Typical Day in Role
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Reviews tax returns prepared by Tax Administrators, and seasonal staff to ensure completeness and accuracy and to minimize risk.
- Prepares complex returns by proactively gathering or preparing all relevant supporting documentation, such as income statements, transactions, tax slips, capital gains & losses statements and fees charged.
- Secondary contact for all clients and partners. May be primary contact for a limited number of assigned clients.
- Proactively recognizes tax issues as they affect the client's situation and ensures that the clients and our partners are made aware, as appropriate.
- Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring thorough knowledge of, and strict adherence to, the Bank's Global Sales Practices, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
- 5-7 years experience as a Tax Accountant
- Prior Experience reviewing tax returns (corporate or personal)
- Prior experience working in a public accounting firm (small to mid sized business preferred KPMG / PWC for example)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Prior knowledge of Estate/Trust taxes
- Prior experience managing junior staff
Soft Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communications
- High attention to detail
- Ability to provide feedback to other staff
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Our client, a top banking client in Canada is looking to hire a Tax Accountant for their team with a contract until July 2025 with potential extension or conversion to Permanent. This role is fully on-site for their Toronto office.
