Serving both individuals and businesses, our client provides support in areas including corporate and personal tax, assurance, financial reporting, financial/tax/estate planning, consulting, and bookkeeping. Our practices work closely with clients across various industries, combining technical expertise with efficient, tech-enabled processes to deliver reliable results.   Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Manager to lead engagements for a diverse portfolio of privately held businesses and individuals. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic, client-focused environment and is looking to contribute to both technical delivery and team development, while building skills in client management and contributing to the growth of a thriving practice. This individual will have the opportunity to take ownership over a book of business and will have the full support of the leadership team to grow their own client base.   The Key Responsibilities include the following; 
Client Relationship Management
  • Manage a portfolio of owner-managed clients across diverse industries
  • Lead client meetings, presenting key financial insights and recommendations
  • Build trusted relationships through clear communication and responsive service
Accounting & Assurance
  • Lead the planning and execution of compilation, review, and audit engagements under ASPE
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and working paper files
  • Ensure engagement timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met across all client files
  • Apply professional judgment to resolve accounting issues and ensure compliance with standards
  • Guide clients through year-end processes and financial reporting requirements
Tax (Supportive Role)
  • Identify opportunities for personal and corporate tax planning or restructuring
  • Review tax filings for accuracy and completeness; ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are met
  • Maintain a general understanding of tax implications as they relate to financial reporting, transactions, and estate planning
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with corporate and/or personal tax engagements is an asset
Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate team members across engagements
  • Allocate work, review deliverables, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Monitor engagement progress, manage WIP, and contribute to billing and collections processes
  • Support operational planning and internal process improvements
To be considered for this role, our client is looking for someone with the following skills/qualifications;
  • CPA designation (Public Accounting License is an asset)
  • 8+ years of experience in public practice, ideally with a focus on small to mid-sized businesses
  • Strong technical knowledge of ASPE and assurance standards
  • Working knowledge of personal and corporate tax; ability to recognize tax planning opportunities
  • Proven experience managing staff and engagements from planning through completion
  • Proficiency with Caseware, Taxprep, and cloud-based accounting tools is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
