Our client, a large and well-established organization, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Control for an initial 6-month contract. This role has been created to provide immediate support due to an upcoming team departure and will focus on maintaining continuity across core financial close processes. There is potential for extension or conversion based on performance.

This is a hands-on role within the finance team, responsible for managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in a complex, large-company environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial control experience and the ability to step in quickly with minimal ramp-up time.

***This role is 4 days a week in office

Key Responsibilities include the following; 
  • Execute and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review financial results, prepare and post journal entries, and perform detailed account reconciliations
  • Support financial reporting and provide variance analysis to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure strong financial controls are maintained and adhered to across all processes
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
  • Perform timely balance sheet reconciliations, attestations, and maintain proper documentation (SODs)
  • Execute and maintain SOX controls, partnering with internal and external auditors
  • Identify and assess financial risks, ensuring appropriate controls and processes are in place
  • Contribute to automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency
  • Support data strategy and ad hoc projects to enhance data accuracy and transparency
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
To be considered for this role, our client is looking for someone with the following skills/qualifications;
  • 5+ years of experience in financial reporting or financial control within a large organization
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and close processes
  • Experience in banking or fund environments is an asset, but not required
  • CPA or equivalent designation is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
