Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Analyze, record, and process financial transactions while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements and supporting schedules, delivering meaningful analysis to support informed business decision-making.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment by proactively identifying risks, monitoring compliance requirements, and implementing effective financial controls and safeguards.
- Serve as a primary liaison for internal and external audit activities, coordinating requests, providing documentation, and facilitating timely resolution of audit-related matters.
- Research and evaluate complex accounting issues, applying relevant technical guidance and recommending appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Leverage Oracle and related financial systems to optimize accounting processes, identify automation opportunities, and drive sustainable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships across departments, collaborating with key stakeholders to support business objectives and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure financial transactions are accurately classified, recorded, and reflected within the general ledger and financial statements.
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives and organizational changes, assessing financial reporting implications and supporting successful implementation efforts.
- Perform detailed variance analysis, investigate operational and financial discrepancies, and resolve inquiries from business units through thoughtful research and analysis.
Requirements of the Senior Accountant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA and/or MBA credentials are highly valued.
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, auditing, and the application of U.S. GAAP within a professional accounting environment.
- Working knowledge of ERP platforms, along with solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability, critical-thinking abilities, and a proactive approach to researching issues, resolving challenges, and delivering results.
