IFG Pittsburgh is recruiting a Senior Accountant responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, including journal entries, general ledger management, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting. The senior accountant will ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies while maintaining strong internal control,  supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to drive informed decision-making and serves as a primary liaison for external audits, coordinating documentation and audit readiness.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant 
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Oversee all general ledger activities, performing detailed account reconciliations, investigating variances, and ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies, strengthening internal controls and promoting consistency and accuracy across all financial reporting processes.
  • Partner with finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and in-depth financial analysis, delivering actionable insights to drive planning and operational decision-making.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit schedules, preparing required documentation, and facilitating efficient and compliant audit processes.
  • Actively monitor and manage cash flow, analyzing trends and providing recommendations to optimize liquidity, support working capital needs, and enhance overall financial stability.

Requirements of the Senior Accountant 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CPA or CPA-track) are a plus.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, demonstrating a solid track record of responsibility across core financial functions.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to apply technical guidance in practice.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of complex formulas, data analysis tools, and financial modeling techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, consistency, and the integrity of financial data.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide actionable insights.
