Payroll Specialist

IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting for a Payroll Specialist that supports end-to-end U.S. and Canadian payroll processing, including year-end reporting, reconciliations, and compliance-related activities such as employment verifications, garnishments, and unemployment claims. The position provides tiered HR services support by resolving payroll and HR system issues, administering HR programs and policies, and partnering with third-party vendors to ensure accurate and timely outcomes. The role also supports system testing, configuration changes, and documentation of HR service delivery processes.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist

• Manage end-to-end U.S. and Canadian payroll processing, including biweekly/multi-cycle runs and year-end reporting.
• Reconcile payroll data and payroll-related funds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations.
• Resolve employee payroll issues through a case management system, partnering with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors as needed.
• Process payroll-related compliance activities including employment verifications, garnishments, and unemployment claims.
• Support Workday HRIS payroll-related configuration changes, testing, validation, and ongoing system issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, integrations, and vendor funding processes, supporting scalability and business acquisitions.

Requirements of the Payroll Specialist

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred
• Minimum Five (5) years of experience
• Extensive knowledge of in house payroll
• Knowledge of payroll tax, garnishments, and deductions
• Detail oriented and organized with a high degree on confidentiality
