We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for a large, complex organization with approximately 5,000 employees paid on a bi-weekly basis. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring compliance, managing a team of four payroll professionals, and partnering closely with Finance. The position reports directly to the Director of Finance Operations.

Key Responsibilities include the following;- Lead and manage the organization's end-to-end payroll function for approximately 5,000 employees across multiple employee groups
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of payroll professionals
- Oversee payroll processing for a diverse workforce, including:
- Full-time and part-time employees
- Salaried and hourly staff
- Contract employees
- Unionized and non-unionized employees
- Management employees
- Review and approve payroll reports, create payroll files, and ensure accurate transmission to Finance for payment processing
- Manage bi-weekly payroll cycles as well as frequent off-cycle payrolls required under collective agreements
- Ensure payroll compliance with employment standards, tax legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies
- Work collaboratively with Finance, HR, and other stakeholders to resolve payroll issues and improve processes
- Support ongoing stabilization and optimization of the organization's recently implemented ERP payroll system
- Identify process improvements and help streamline payroll operations while maintaining accuracy and compliance
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation or Payroll Manager certification preferred
- Proven experience managing payroll for a large, complex organization
- Experience processing payroll for unionized and non-unionized employee groups
- Strong knowledge of Ontario payroll legislation, with exposure to payroll requirements in other Canadian provinces
- Experience with multiple employee classifications, shift work, scheduling, and complex pay rules
- Previous experience leading and developing payroll teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience in not for profit, healthcare, higher education, or another large, complex organization with a variety of pay types
- Experience supporting organizations with multiple collective agreements.
- Salary: $125,000-$130,000
