We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join a large, Multi-Province organization on a 6-month contract. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working in a more manual payroll environment. The successful candidate will manage payroll operations for approximately 1,000 employees across Canada, including salaried, part-time, and unionized staff, and will be responsible for ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all payroll activities.

The Key Responsibilities include the following; 
  • Oversee and execute end-to-end payroll processing across multiple provinces in Canada
  • Manage payroll for a diverse workforce (salaried, part-time, and union employees), including T4A reporting
  • Perform reconciliations and ensure payroll rates and calculations are accurate
  • Supervise and mentor payroll team members, while also being hands-on with processing when required
  • Oversee year-end processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and compliance filings
  • Ensure adherence to provincial and federal legislation, as well as collective agreements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries and resolve complex issues
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of payroll data and processes
  • Drive process improvements while maintaining accuracy in a manual environment
***This role is hybrid and requires you to work 2 days a week in office

To be considered for this role, our client is looking for someone with the following skills/qualifications; 
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3+ years in a management role
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation required; Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation is an asset
  • Strong experience managing payroll in a multi-province environment including experience with part time, contract, hourly, salaried and unionized employees
  • Demonstrated ability to process payroll manually (not only through systems) and willingness to be hands-on
  • Proven track record in supervising payroll teams and managing year-end requirements
