IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting a Payroll Manager to oversee the design, enhancement, and execution of payroll policies, procedures, and system upgrades. In this role, the manager will guide and mentor a payroll team, ensuring all payroll activity is completed accurately and in full compliance with regulatory requirements. Daily responsibilities include organizing and delegating work, resolving operational issues, and reviewing staff transactions and communications for precision and adherence to standards. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in global payroll operations, skill in managing complex payroll environments, and a strong track record of driving organizational change and modernizing payroll functions. 

Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager
  • Oversee all daily payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely multi-state, domestic, and international payrolls.
  • Manage reconciliation, records, and verification of payroll deductions, including benefits, retirement, insurance, and garnishments.
  • Ensure tax accuracy and compliance, support timely federal/state/local filings, and handle audits, discrepancies, and agency coordination.
  • Direct year-end activities such as preparing, reviewing, and distributing W-2s.
  • Lead and develop payroll staff through workload management, coaching, and fostering a collaborative, service-oriented team culture.
  • Maintain payroll policies and documentation, resolve complex escalated issues, and drive process improvements to reduce risk and enhance efficiency.

Requirements of the Payroll Manager
  • 10+ years of experience required
  • A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent attention-to-detail, time-management, work ethic, and customer service skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, while maintaining flexibility through changing priorities and demanding timelines
  • Strong leadership skills
