Our client, a large enterprise organization, is seeking a Governance & Controls Consultant with Human Resources for a 6-month contract opportunity, with strong potential for extension.

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 1-3 days per week (including Mondays and the first Friday of each month) at a downtown Toronto office. The role focuses on supporting governance, risk, and control activities, with an emphasis on process documentation, compliance, and operational risk management within the Human Resources function.

Key Responsibilities
o Provide guidance on design, implementation, and enhancement of controls aligned with internal frameworks within HR
o Support development and maintenance of process documentation to meet governance and audit standards within HR
o Partner with Human Resources Stakeholders to identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risks
o Assess effectiveness of controls and recommend improvements where needed
o Support Human Resources data governance and records management practices, including control assessments
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in governance practices
o Contribute to continuous improvement of HR control frameworks and processes
o Prepare materials and insights for stakeholders and senior leadership

Must-Have Requirements
o 5+ years of experience in governance, risk, and controls with some experience in Human Resources or 5+ years experience in Human Resources with experience in design and testing of Internal Controls and Governance
o Strong experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
o Solid understanding of process documentation and control frameworks
o Experience within large enterprise or complex organizational environments
o Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
o Ability to influence and drive outcomes in a collaborative environment

Nice-to-Have
o Experience in data governance or records management
o Experience building dashboards (e.g., Power BI)
o Experience working with SharePoint or similar tools

o Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
o Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
o High attention to detail and structured thinking
