Our client, a major financial institution in Canada is looking to hire a Financial Analyst for a 4-month contract. This role is hybrid with 2-3 days in downtown Toronto.

You will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support decision-making regarding property investments, development projects, and asset management. This includes forecasting cash flows, valuations, and assessing financial risks and returns to guide strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and regularly monitor performance against budget. Provide detailed variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend actions to senior management to optimize financial performance across real estate portfolios.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define and implement strategic business plans based on thorough financial analysis and market insights. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and scorecards to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and real estate investments.
  • Conduct financial due diligence on potential real estate investments and developments, including sensitivity analysis and scenario planning. Prepare comprehensive investment appraisal reports for the executive team and stakeholders to support acquisition, divestiture, or redevelopment decisions.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.

Must have skills:
  • University Degree,
  • 4-5 years of professional accounting/financial analysis experience.
  • Strong finance background with 4-5 years of increasing responsibility in financial accounting / reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, including strong PowerPoint/history of delivering compelling presentations to Senior Leadership and stakeholders.

Nice to have:
  • Experience in real estate industry and/or investment management industry is strongly preferred but not mandatory.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent accounting or finance professional credential.
