Controller

IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting a Controller responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the financial close process, financial and management reporting and analysis.  This role plays a critical part in managing financial controls, policy and procedure development and management, inventory accounting, financial and cost analysis, and provide supporting strategic decision-making to drive operational efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities of the Controller

• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage inventory accounting, including valuation, reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventories across warehouses.
• Analyze gross margin performance, freight costs, pricing, and operating expenses to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses providing clear explanations to leadership.
• Establish, monitor, and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and work with outside accountants and advisors.
• Support ERP systems and accounting software, including process improvements and system integrations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain to support data-driven decision-making.

Requirements of the Controller

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
• MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience
• Strong evidence of working in a leadership role
• Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
• Excellent management and supervisory skills
• Advanced analytical and organizational skills
