Responsibilities of the Collections Manager
- Assists in creating and refining policies related to loan collections, including processes for handling defaults, foreclosure actions, and repayment arrangements for overdue accounts.
- Monitors past-due loan accounts and communicates with borrowers through phone calls, written correspondence, or in-person meetings to address payment issues.
- Supervises and authorizes collection strategies carried out by team members, providing support and guidance on repayment plans or loan restructuring when needed.
- Initiates and oversees foreclosure proceedings for accounts that cannot be resolved through standard collection efforts, confirming that documentation and records are properly completed.
- Follows all established workplace safety standards, policies, and operational guidelines.
- Contributes to team initiatives that support departmental objectives and overall organizational performance.
- Participates in training sessions, professional development events, and internal meetings as required.
- Carries out additional responsibilities as assigned to support operational needs.
Requirements of the Collections Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience of credit and collections experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven leadership experience.
