IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting an Assistant Controller to manage daily accounting activities, oversee accurate and timely financial close procedures, uphold robust internal controls over financial reporting, and supervise the accounting staff. This position works closely with the Controller, Director of Accounting, SEC Reporting, Internal Audit, and external auditors to help maintain a strong financial reporting framework within a publicly traded company environment.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial results.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, regulatory accounting requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Own close governance, including calendars, deliverables, issue resolution, and execution discipline.
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex accounting and judgment-based decisions.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor the accounting team while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Lead SOX compliance efforts, including control execution, documentation, testing support, and remediation.
  • Partner with SEC Reporting and support preparation and review of Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Act as primary liaison with external auditors and coordinate audit deliverables and findings resolution.
  • Drive process improvement and automation initiatives while serving as key stakeholder for the General Ledger platform.

Qualifications of the Assistant Controller
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
  • MBA and/or CPA highly preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years accounting leadership experience
  • Previous work experience with a publicly traded company 
  • Experience with ERP systems is required
