IFG Pittsburgh is actively recruiting an Operations Controller responsible for overseeing all cost accounting functions to ensure accuracy and alignment with manufacturing operations while analyzing gross and direct margins to drive profitability improvements. The position leads budgeting, financial analysis, and month end close processes, delivering timely and accurate reporting to support decision making and key customer requirements. The Operations Controller will play a key part in KPI management, profitability management and ensure best practices.

Responsibilities of the Operations Controller
  • Direct and manage cost accounting activities to maintain precise financial records and alignment with production processes.
  • Evaluate product profitability by reviewing gross and contribution margins and resolving variances as they arise.
  • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of the annual operating budget to achieve financial objectives.
  • Establish and track performance indicators that support improved efficiency, cost control, and overall profitability.
  • Own the monthly financial close cycle, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure reliable financial data and customer specific reporting accuracy.
  • Deliver financial insights and strategic guidance to strengthen results and improve accounting procedures.
  • Supervise, mentor, and grow a team of three accounting professionals, promoting engagement and accountability.
  • Maximize the capabilities of ERP system to enhance reporting accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Perform in depth financial modeling and analysis to support leadership decisions and long term growth initiatives.

Requirements of the Operations Controller
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven expertise in manufacturing cost accounting and FP&A
  • Strong knowledge of gross margin analysis and margin management
  • Experience in leading month-end close activities and preparing journal entries
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Effective leadership capabilities to manage and mentor a team
