IFG is actively recruiting a Payroll Specialist responsible for managing and administering an in-house payroll for approximately 1000 employees to include union & non-union and salary & hourly.  This will include time & attendance tracking and reporting, tax filings, administration of liens and garnishments, and payroll related compliance.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist

  • Prepare, audit, and process weekly payrolls by established deadlines, wage and hour rules and regulations, and bargaining unit terms.
  • Manage and administer the timekeeping system ensuring accurate employee set up.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve performance and efficiencies, including payroll digitization, system enhancements, and integrations.
  • Calculate special pays such as bonuses, retroactive payments, severance, and benefit time payouts.
  • Reconcile and post deduction/benefit files such as retirement, union dues, and employee health contributions
  • Update employee payroll records for voluntary deductions to include wage garnishments, and other miscellaneous deductions.
  • Monitor accrual of benefit time records, including all PTO, for adherence to established policies.
  • Prepare all quarterly and annual tax filings including 941s, W2s, state withholding, local withholding, 940s, and state unemployment filings.
  • Prepare, generate and submit quarterly, annual, and/or ad-hoc reporting such as ACA, timekeeping, payroll, or other reports requested by management.

Requirements of the Payroll Specialist

  • Five (5) years of experience calculating, processing, and administering multi-state payroll
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is desirable
  • Experience with Union Payroll is highly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll-related rules and regulations
  • Solid understanding of federal, state and local payroll and employment laws
