Job Description

Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for determining cost of raw material, labor, overhead and value of inventory while also contributing to acquisition integrations and other adhoc projects, as needed.

Job Duties:

o Execute monthly close responsibilities according to schedule for assigned scope areas by verifying accuracy of journal entries and variance reporting

o Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations timely and prepare supporting documentation for assigned scope areas

o Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in inventory accounting transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment within the general ledger

o Lead and execute variance analysis and reporting, including work orders, labor and purchase price variances, for assigned scope areas

o Work with Financial Planning and Analysis to incorporate variance analysis, annual plan and quarterly forecast changes into standard cost rolls per Company's process

o Participate with cross functional team to properly cost changes in existing BOMs or creation of new items/BOMs

o Support other manufacturing operating activities, as needed (cycle counts, physical inventory, etc.)

o Work with the Company's external auditors to provide requested information and explain the substance of a transaction for assigned scope areas

o Identify areas in cost accounting to improve processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (close cycle time, capitalization, perpetual inventory, standard cost rolls, etc.)

o Execute acquisition integration activities related to cost accounting (opening balance sheet inventory, month end close, standard cost/ERP deployment, etc.)

o Support other enterprise-wide, cross functional projects, as needed

 

Job Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting

o 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years of related experience in Cost Accounting

o Experience working with operations, engineering and manufacturing team members on the development and analysis of cost standards

o CPA and/or Public accounting experience is a plus

o Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel Advanced User) and experience working with ERP systems

o Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS is a plus

o Strong work ethic and team player

o Must be a self-starter, high level of initiative, proactive thinker with a healthy dose of intellectual curiosity

o Results oriented and willing to roll up sleeves, work around barriers and get the job done

o Exceptional attention to detail and good follow-up skills

o Must have organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, multi-task and keep to deadlines

o Solid communication skills and ability to be effective both verbally and in writing

o Ability to track and document results accurately
