IFG's Client, a manufacturing company near O'Hare A/P, is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager. 

This position will manage the Cost Accounting Team at the corporate headquarters. Hybrid 2 days on-site.


Job Duties:


  • Lead execution of cost accounting and inventory processes and controls for all manufacturing facilities.
  • Take ownership of the related month-end close processes and provide lead support for the team, including inventory reconciliations, monthly accruals, variance analysis and are properly accounted for under US GAAP
  • Work with plant managers and support function leaders to help them understand and improve financial data accuracy within ERP. Control the accuracy of all supporting cost data as it relates to BOM modifications, labor and overhead standards and cost rolls
  • Proactively problem solve various ad hoc requests as they relate to the accuracy of the ERP financial data and work cross functionally with IT department on corrective actions
  • Provide external auditors with requested information and assist the accounting team during audit process
  • Identify and make recommendations to Accounting and Finance leadership related to cost accounting process improvements (close cycle time, capitalization, perpetual inventory, standard cost rolls, etc.)
  • Support other manufacturing operating activities, as needed (cycle counts, physical inventory, etc.)
  • Lead execution of acquisition integration activities related to cost account (opening balance sheet inventory, month end close, standard cost/ERP deployment, etc.)
  • Manage the growth and development of team of senior cost accountants
  • Other duties/projects as assigned


Job Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, a related field required;
  • Computer skills including, Excel (Advanced User), Word, and Outlook, Power Point
  • Effectively synthesize and communicate analyses in writing (presentations, memos)
  • Good business acumen with a proven ability to understand business priorities
  • Ability to track and document results accurately
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build very good working relationships with managers, coworkers, and customers
  • Able to deal properly with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop people and lead a team
  • Must be dedicated to continuous improvement
