Staff Accountant opportunity in International Accounting. 

Hybrid/ Remote: (3 days in the office per month)
Location: N suburbs
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 (can stretch) and 6% target bonus

This Staff Accountant role is a mix of corporate accounting (70%) and tax (30%) on the international accounting team.  Accounting is combination of traditional corporate accounting (month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries), international accounting (IFRS, German GAAP, Chinese GAAP, etc.), and exposure to technical accounting (ASC 842, ASC 606).  SAP is preferred but not required.  Strong Excel is required (pivots, lookups).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting for international entities as assigned. Responsibilities include journal entries, month-end close, general ledger maintenance
  • Balance, reconcile, validate intercompany accounts
  • Support VAT (consumption) tax return preparation of various foreign entities and reconciliation of VAT return to general ledger; monthly netting of VAT balance sheet accounts by jurisdiction
  • Provide income tax provision and income tax return support, including completion of tax reporting packages for foreign and domestic entities
  • Support financial reporting through preparation of various schedules as assigned
  • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
  • Act as back-up to running of foreign exchange translation and revaluation programs during close process
  • Prepare foreign exchange proofs in local and reporting (USD) currencies; investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Review month-end auto-uploaded foreign exchange rates
  • Compute and post monthly intercompany interest
  • Prepare monthly intercompany invoices for transfer pricing adjustments and other charges between all entities
  • Resolve invoicing issues and ensure outstanding intercompany receivables and payables are settled in accordance with the intercompany policies
  • Fulfill audit requests as assigned related to annual consolidated (US) and statutory (foreign) audits
  • Assist in controls and process improvement implementation
  • Assist with special projects and research projects

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0-2 years of applicable accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Knowledgeable in US GAAP
  • Understanding of foreign currency translation and remeasurement
  • Preference given to knowledge of international accounting
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to think and work independently
  • Ability to work in environment with shifting priorities
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Good organization, analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
