  • To assist Accounting and Operations Leadership in carrying out the responsibilities related to ensuring the accuracy of our costing system and inventory valuation. 
  • To determine the cost of business activity through the analysis of gross margin and cost variances to also include the preparation of periodic reports that will ensure accurate standard costs and provide a clear picture of opportunities to measure and guide business performance. 


  • Monthly preparation and analysis of all costs and general ledger accounts above net margin.
  • Plan, collect and review data required to analyze costs, to include raw materials, work in process, depreciation, labor, material, and overhead costs.
  • Work with Operations to update standard costs once a year or ad hoc as an exception.  Annual updating of standards to include a net change variance analysis to be able to explain changes to costs from prior year.
  • Maintain inventory records for raw material, WIP, consignment and finished goods inventory.
  • Assist in preparation of financial statement analysis; including balance sheet & income statement information as it relates to Operations cost centers, gross margin, fixed assets and inventory value.
  • Reclassification of journal entries as needed.
  • Maintain excess and obsolete inventory provision details through monthly updating of detail and support.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to assist in annual budget preparation.
  • Preparation of schedules and/or reports as required for various audits.
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Validate, analyze and report on cost of goods sold variances to budget and prior periods as part of the month-end close.
  • Monitor the cycle count program and perform a monthly inventory analysis.
  • Participate in annual physical inventories, including travel where needed
  • Perform audits to ensure intercompany product loads (markups) are properly applied.
  • Protect organization’s integrity by keeping customer, supplier, and vendor information confidential.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and effectiveness of financial records and internal controls, including adherence to company accounting policies.
  • Ensure proper retention, filing, and handling of accounting records in accordance with company procedures and accounting best practices.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3+ years’ cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment  
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals (GAAP), practices and methods of accounting, finance and auditing, and financial reporting 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Experience with Exact/Macola Software is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
