Position: Controller

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, Billing, Payroll, General Ledger, Budgeting, and Reporting.
  • Supervise month-end and year-end close process
  • Supervise payroll processing and 401k funding
  • Supervise processing of A/P activity including corporate payables and media/production payables
  • Supervise monthly billing to clients for service provided
  • Review and record journal entries required to properly reflect monthly activity
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Prepare/ review key account reconciliations
  • Prepare and update cash flow projections
  • Prepare/ review productivity reports
  • Create procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinate and direct preparation of annual budget and quarterly updates
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assist in review of due diligence material of potential acquisitions
  • Coordinate annual audit with outside CPA firm
  • Coordinate annual tax preparation with outside CPA firm
  • Administrator for accounting software Workamajig
  • Manage team of three employees
  • Reports directly to the CFO

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a controller for a business services company, ideally in marketing/advertising.
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization, including Workamajig, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • C.P.A. is highly preferred but not required
  • National accounting firm audit experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience successfully leading a team preferred but not required
  • Ability to work successfully across multiple departments
