IFG's client, a manufacturing company located in the Northern Suburbs, is seeking an Accounting Manager. 

The Accounting Manager is responsible for performing accounting functions and analysis related to the companies’ General Ledger and Monthly Close process.  This position is responsible for preparing the company’s financial reports and reconciliation of the general ledger account.  This position is responsible for monitoring the monthly Journal entries, G/L balances and Balance Sheet Reconciliations on a monthly basis and reporting results to the CFO and Controller. Additional duties include collaborating with all of the business units to develop Accounting Policy, Managing the closing process of all the business units, and other projects as assigned.


  • Preparation of the monthly Journal Entries and Closing activities each month to the individual Business Unit General Ledgers and corresponding Trial Balance information.
  • Accountable for preparing variance analysis to budget and prior periods.
  • Responsible for preparing all Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations for Lincolnshire and Chicago along with review of the other two divisions.
  • Responsible for Cash Reporting on a daily, weekly and Monthly basis.  Monthly Cash reconciliations to the Bank to be completed every month as part of the Balance Sheet Reconciliation process.
  • Liaison with HR for weekly Payroll Transmissions to the bank and reconciliation of payroll monthly during the closing period.
  • Assist in the preparation of all Audit Required workpapers and documentation.
  • Supervise/Perform intercompany reconciliation and transactions
  • Interface with management in various departments, including engineering, production, sales operations, marketing and IT.
  • Evaluate accounting policies and procedures and where appropriate suggest and develop new policies that follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and streamline workloads.
  • Manage Fixed Assets for each Business Unit and make sure depreciation is accurately calculated and reflected for all new Assets.
  • Working with the Controller to develop and maintain the Corporate Chart of Accounts.  Working with each individual business unit to make sure the proper structure is maintained for consolidation purposes and consistency.


  • BS in Accounting/Finance from an accredited institution.
  • Progressive financial experience; manufacturing background in a multi-plant environment preferred.
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Must have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principals
  • Experience working with operations, engineering and manufacturing team members on the development and analysis of cost standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook and ERP experience
