IFG’s Chicago client is looking for a Corporate Accounting Director to lead the Retirement and Private Wealth accounting group. Retirement and Private Wealth includes the company’s Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor subsidiaries.

This role will report into the Chief Accounting Officer. The Corporate Accounting Director will also have exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to advance in their career. The right candidate will be entrepreneurial in nature and be able to work with various levels within a global organization.

Corporate Accounting Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the monthly financial close process for broker-dealer and registered investment advisor subsidiaries
  • Collaborate, manage and influence across on-site and remote teams
  • Review and ensure compliance with net capital and other regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the FinOp for the broker dealer
  • Responsible for all financial FINRA and SEC filingsUnderstand and remain current with the applicable federal and state securities laws and regulations, and rules relating to financial and operational responsibility
  • Develop procedures to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Participate in M&A due diligence and integration
  • Prepare and/or review purchase accounting and opening balance sheet reporting for a highly acquisitive organization
  • Work with regional accounting teams and internal audit to determine and account for working capital true-ups and earn out calculations
  • Technical accounting responsibility for items such as goodwill impairment analysis
  • Onboard new acquisitions with various broker dealers and advisories
  • Work with third party valuation firm and external auditors
  • Analyze and review of actual results against budget and prior year
  • Work with regional FP&A teams to develop annual budget
  • Routinely communicate with Corporate FP&A Director that supports Retirement and Private Wealth management as well as regional chief financial officers and FP&A staff
  • Responsible for the career development, coaching and mentoring of staff accountants
  • Respond to day to day operational and financial matters

Corporate Accounting Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Minimum of 3 years managing people/teams
  • Series 27
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and ability to perform technical accounting research
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects both in a group and independently
  • Experience leading, developing, growing, and motivating a team and staff level employees
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including prior experience presenting to executives
  • Excellent organizational skills
