Compensation: $150,000 - $160,000 base salary (mid-point); 15% cash bonus target; potential equity bonus

Size of Team: 17 (3 direct reports[Accounting Manager; Billing Supervisor; Operations Senior Accountant]: 14 indirect reports {e.g. AP and AR clerks, accountants])

Position Summary from CFO:

  • Strong technical and people leader
  • Mentor, develop and manage accounting team directly and build a high-performing team
  • Own the corporate accounting function including ERP (Microsoft Dynamics implemented 10/2020), year-end and month-end close; financial reporting; consolidations (3 entities, no consolidations software); technical accounting; audit; taxes (assistance in place from public accounting firm)
  • Review current processes; recommend and implement process improvements; create new processes; increase transparency of financial information


The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading all accounting functions.  Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly accounting close process, billing clients and accounts receivable collections and proper accounts payable controls.  In addition, the function will lead corporate tax, audit, and treasury functions. The Corporate Controller will build a high performing accounting team.  The controller will implement policies and procedures that drive efficiencies in the accounting organization and improve financial reporting controls, timeliness, and accuracy.  

  • Lead monthly accounting close process, including analytical review of the monthly operating results
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements; with accurate and timely production of all financial information
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Review daily cash report and bank reconciliations
  • Support preparation of semi-monthly payroll
  • Implement, document, and maintain effective processes to improve the month-end close and reporting cycles
  • Create and maintain corporate accounting policies, following GAAP standards
  • Develop a process to record and track transactions at department and business unit levels
  • Implement purchasing disciplines and controls, including purchase orders and approval workflows
  • Maintenance of fixed assets
  • Create and maintain capitalization policies
  • Liaison with banks and establish best practices around banking accounts
  • Create and maintain signing authority matrix
  • Lead corporate audit process and maintain effective internal controls with no audit deficiencies
  • Facilitate internal and external audit processes
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return with outside CPA firm
  • Provide support for tax, legal, and government regulatory authorities
  • Assist in maintaining records for 401(k) plan
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Abide by all obligations under HIPAA related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Lead operating and custodial accounting functions and consolidation of overall financial results
  • Create a high performing accounting team with training and career development opportunities
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Skills and Experience:

  • This position is responsible for supervising Accounting department staff
  • Bachelors and/or master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting (required)
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting and finance (required)
  • 4+ years’ experience managing accounting staff and running financial reporting processes (required)
  • 3+ years in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities, preferably in the healthcare or PBM industry (required)
  • Certified Public Accountant (strongly preferred)
  • “Big 4” or other large public accounting firm audit experience (preferred)
  • Strong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors (preferred)
  • Experience working with a fast-growing company with private equity backing (preferred)
  • Strong technical accounting background; including GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
  • Attention to detail and precision with financial and operational matters
  • Exceptional work ethic
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order
  • Credibility, ethical, full disclosure, and clean financial history
