Job Title: Accounting Manager

Compensation: Market-based plus a bonus

Reports to: Vice President of Finance/Accounting

Location: Chicago (downtown Loop)

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the Company’s accounting function. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining best practice accounting processes and procedures to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial information. The Accounting Manager will manage the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with multiple departments which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Key Responsibilities:

-       Ownership of the general ledger, monthly close process and all associated reporting requirements, ensuring timeliness and accuracy

-       Oversee and review the Treasury, Accounts Payable, Billing/Accounts Receivable functions in accordance with company policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate controls, maintain target levels of liquidity, provide timely and accurate reporting such as for bank covenants

-       Lead and oversee all Tax & Regulatory/Compliance issues at federal, state and local levels such as timely & accurate filings and reporting, ensuring and improving GAAP compliance, payroll/property/sales tax collection & documentation and W-9 compliance

-       Collaborate with Finance team on monthly forecast and annual strategic planning and budget processes and all associated reporting requirements

-       Implement and maintain best in class systems and processes to ensure an efficient and effective Accounting team

-       Builds solid relationships within finance and with their business partners, providing sound financial advice to help the company achieve its objectives

-       Attract, retain and develop top finance talent for 1-2 direct reports

-       Lead ad hoc projects as needed such as implementation of ASC 606, M&A pipeline due diligence, and integration of acquisitions into the company


-       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required

-       6-12 years of accounting experience demonstrating increasing responsibility

-       2+ years of management experience leading accounting teams of similar size

-       Experience with high growth software company and/or private equity ownership a plus

-       General ledger and other accounting systems experience required
