Summary:

Controller to oversee the finance, accounting and administration at downtown Chicago office.  Key finance/accounting senior management position will be an integral part of the team.

-       Vertically-integrated technical and management role handling all accounting and finance from executive-level to cash applications

o   No direct reports; entrepreneurial position handling all accounting and finance functions

o   Venture capital or related investment industry experience strongly preferred

o   QuickBooks experience preferred

o   CPA is preferred

-       Support provided by external audit firm, external tax firm (e.g. K-1 preparations, etc.) and other resources

-       Loft office in West Chicago Loop accessible by multiple forms of public transportation

-       Entrepreneurial culture, casual dress code, overtime not expected

Responsibilities:

-       Maintain the books and records of the firm and various investment entities

-       Work with outside accountants on annual audits and tax returns

-       Review complex transactions for proper book and tax treatment

-       Prepare quarterly reports to investors

-       Prepare monthly financial statements of the firm for distribution to senior management

-       Manage select key vendor relationships (consultants, building management, etc.)

-       Prepare calculations of various performance metrics (IRR, return on capital, etc.)

-       Keep up database of investors

-       Prepare checks to vendors

-       Prepare semi-monthly payroll

-       Initiate and record banking transactions such as wires, receipts, deposits, etc.

-       Responsible for various office related tasks

-       Education and Work Experience:

-       Bachelor’s degree in accounting

-       3+ years of relevant private equity or venture capital accounting experience

-       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-       Proactive detail-oriented professional with excellent problem-solving capabilities

-       Substantial experience with Excel, Word, and QuickBooks
