Our $5B, publicly traded client is interviewing Accounting Manager for their growing corporate accounting organization.  Public accounting and/or large organization experience is greatly preferred, but they are looking for a polished difference maker above all else.  The Accounting Manager is within the Global Close and Strategy team of the Corporate Accounting department based in the NW suburbs. The Manager will be responsible for various process migrations and centralization efforts in order to ensure the general ledger is closed in a timely and controlled manner in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

The position includes being responsible for a full range of financial and project analysis and communication covering month end close and processes. The Manager will be part of the Corporate Accounting group and will report directly to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting Global Function.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinating cross-functional and multi-divisional month end close close reporting and deliverables
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues and reporting discrepancies
  • Manage the global monthly QA Account Reconciliation program and results
  • Drive policy development while monitoring and measuring compliance across all divisions
  • Establish and manage the master data change management process related to general ledger
  • Drive Global Reporting Communication: Leads and advises on the business initiatives across multiple areas within finance and across geographies/organizations
  • Global Control Enhancements: Further review and enhancement of the global operational control environment for intercompany transactions
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate cross-functionally to meet strict project execution deadlines

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Good working knowledge of accounting standards, account reconciliations, and month end close experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, financial data, internal consulting, and customer-focused communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to follow through on multiple tasks and priorities
  • Well-experienced with Microsoft suite of products;  Advanced level skills in Access and Excel
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with precise detail and follow-up reporting

Preferred:

  • Good working knowledge of the insurance brokerage business
  • Intercompany experience
  • Prior experience managing teams / personnel
