Job Description

A Financial Institution in Brookfield, WI is seeking a Credit Dispute Specialist to their team on a contract basis. The Credit Dispute Specialist should be an experienced and motivated individual who will ensure accurate reporting of consumer information to credit bureaus, and accurate interpretation of credit bureau data for use in credit decisions.

Role and Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for processing, resolving and responding to customer disputes related to credit bureau reporting, responding to other customer information requests, and for entering information into the Credit Bureau Dispute database(s). They will be dealing with CBR Disputes from customers and all 4 credit bureau agencies. They will be toggling between Excel Spreadsheets, CBR Database, CBR websites and our internal systems.

  • Dispute Resolution
  • Answer/Resolve Credit Bureau Reporting disputes within set parameters
  • Review credit attributes to ensure accurate coding of credit bureau information for use in credit decisions
  • Responds to general customer information inquiries
  • Enter data into dispute tracking database
  • Maintains Appropriate Position Documentation

Preferred Skills

Must have skills:

  • 1-2 years’ worth of work experience in collections (Understands Bankruptcy/Foreclosure accounts and how these situations affect customers)
  • Advanced Microsoft Office - Excel (PivotTables/ Macros)/ Microsoft Access/ Microsoft Word
  • Strong communication (Candidate will be editing Word documents, speaking to customers eventually over the phone)
  • Attention to detail
  • Little to no room for error
  • Previous experience with data entry 
  • Great investigator / problem solver / thinks outside the box
  • Decision maker (can make solid decisions)

Nice to have skills:

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience taking customer queries over the phone
  • Thick skin

Education:

  • High School diploma
