Job Description

A Financial Institution located in Chicago, IL is seeking an Event Manager to support marketing strategy for all branches of the bank including planning, coordinating, client event, conferences, road shows, dinners, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

Business Delivery and Operational Effectiveness (50%)

  • Design and delivery of consistently great client experiences
  • Provide guidance and recommendations as well as execution for internal & external conferences and events in support of cross-border groups.
  • Develop and obtain required budget and client strategy approvals from executives
  • Assist in the development and execution of annual event strategies to meet business objectives
  • Prepare briefing materials and coordinate event schedules for senior executives
  • Develop and manage event calendars
  • Assist in the development and implementation of event tracking mechanisms to assess program effectiveness and alignment with overall strategic goals
  • Provide credible advice and support to senior executives during events and internal conferences
  • Identify and assess competitor conferences and events
  • Selection and oversight of promotional merchandise used at events.

Client and Relationship Management (40%)

  • Serve as a contact for, and interact with, senior executives and clients as they participate in events and conferences
  • Interact with senior FG executives through briefings and meetings as they participate in events and conferences
  • Build and enhance relationships with external suppliers to provide best-in-class events and conferences
  • Represent with professionalism, courtesy and integrity

Risk Management and Control (10%)

  • Responsibility for ensuring standards are applied to all conferences and events
  • Responsibility for quality control of conferences and events

Preferred Skills

Top must have skills:

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in event management, including demonstrated project management expertise
  • Professional polish and ability to interact with very senior executives and clients.
  • Team player, motivated and committed, self-starter and quick learner, confident, assertive, strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work in ambiguity and under pressure, as well as handle multiple projects simultaneously and resolve conflicts on site
  • Skilled in project management

Nice to have skills:

  • Event Planning College Certificate and/or Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation considered an asset(s)
  • Fundamental understanding of banking as well as knowledge of products and services
  • Strong understanding of strategies and objectives of individual groups across the organization
  • Awareness of financial services competitive marketplace and trends
  • Awareness of current affairs
  • Coaching, mentoring and development of staff needs
  • Ability to work across the organization
  • Experience in event organization
  • Any affiliation with any even association (ex. MPI)
