Job Summary
The Manager, Contracts and Pricing will have principal responsibility for the planning, execution, strategy and reporting for all national retail advertising contract negotiations with both advertising agencies and clients.   This position will use pricing strategy and contract negotiations to align to sales goals and help maximize national retail advertising revenue.  The position is responsible for reporting contract negotiation progress with insights to executives and key stakeholders in advertising.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage advertising contract negotiation process for national retail accounts including negotiation planning, strategy, execution and reporting.
  • Work with Senior Manager, Pricing and Analysis to develop national retail pricing strategies that maximize advertising revenue.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales and Finance colleagues to develop, analyze and implement strategic pricing plans that maximize account profitability by customer segment.
  • Assist in development of advertising revenue forecast and financial plan through top-client insights and trend analysis.
  • Subject matter expert on national retail client level pricing metrics including rate indexes, value indexes and rate trends
  • Work with Contract Administrator to ensure advertising contracts are maintained and fulfillment is monitored to make recommendations on an ongoing basis should contracts not be tracking to expectations
  • Update advertising executives and key stakeholders on contract status and progress on a monthly basis.
     
    Requirements/Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years direct contract negotiation and administrative skill
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (ability to perform vlookups, pivot tables and reporting charts), Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Word
  • Strong communication financial acumen
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience within the publishing industry and knowledge of postal rates a plus
  • BA/BS Business Administration or related field
  • Leadership skills include strategic thinking, customer focus and influential
  • Maintain a solid understanding of category issues, key advertisers, and how the sales departments function
  • Collaborate - strong and productive relationships with advertising leadership team expected
  • Results oriented – Maximize revenue potential
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with both Finance and Sales executives
